Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier has first parole hearing in a decade

American Indian activist Leonard Peltier speaks during an interview at the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kan., in 1999. Peltier, who has spent most of his life in prison for the 1975 killings of two FBI agents in South Dakota, has a parole hearing Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Indigenous activist has been in prison nearly 50 years for the 1975 killing of two FBI agents. In ailing health, supporters say this might be his last bid for freedom.
