Robert Towne, Oscar-winning writer of ‘Chinatown,’ dies at 89

Robert Towne’s script for the 1974 film Chinatown became a model of the art form and helped define the jaded allure of his native LA. His other credits include Shampoo and 1990’s Days of Thunder.
